She had been thinking about a story set during the time of Oscar Wilde for the next novel, but decided to abandon it and go back to the erotic writing she had explored in the 1960s. Neither of them gave her the critical acclaim or the commercial success of her first novel the main complaints about The Feast of All Saints were that it was too heavy and dense to read easily, and most of the reviews for Cry to Heaven were so savagely negative that Rice felt devastated. Background Īfter the success of Interview with the Vampire (1976), Anne Rice wrote two extensively researched historical novels, The Feast of All Saints (1979) and Cry to Heaven (1982). A compact disc version of the audiobooks was read by Genviere Bevier and Winthrop Eliot. Beauty's Punishment was read by Elizabeth Montgomery (known for her role in the ABC situation comedy Bewitched) as Beauty with Michael Diamond as Tristan, and Beauty's Release was by Montgomery with actor Christian Keiber reading as Laurent. The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty was read by actress Amy Brenneman. In 1994, the abridged audio versions of the first three books were published in cassette form. The novels describe explicit sexual adventures of the female protagonist Beauty and the male characters Alexi, Tristan, and Laurent, featuring both maledom and femdom scenarios amid vivid imageries of bisexuality, homosexuality, ephebophilia, and pony play. They are erotic BDSM novels set in a medieval fantasy world, loosely based on the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty. The quartet comprises The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, Beauty's Punishment, Beauty's Release, and Beauty's Kingdom, first published individually in 1983, 1984, 1985, and 2015, respectively, in the United States. The Sleeping Beauty Quartet is a series of four novels written by American author Anne Rice under the pseudonym of A. That said, darn it, these things are fun! If you’re willing to suspend disbelief and accept them for what they are, plug-ins open up new vistas. Homer sees the forest but never the trees, whereas Lisa approaches each tree with a deliberate step, taking time to study the branches. At the end of the day, consider whether you want to be Homer or Lisa (Simpson, if you haven’t gotten with the program). But when you’re no longer using imaging tools to realize your vision or make a bolder visual statement, you’re crossing that line and fooling yourself into thinking you’re producing more imaginative pictures, when in fact you’re falling into an abyss you may never crawl out of. And once I realized that I was allowing myself to be swept up in this mania of adding effects just for the sake of doing so, without rhyme or reason, I pulled back and placed some restraints on myself– actually, it’s an ongoing process.Īnd, granted, it’s a fine line. As with other plug-ins, I at times became so enchanted by them that I lost sight of the original image or my purpose in using the plug-in. I’ve worked with Alien Skin Software plug-ins for years. Follow this image through its various iterations brought about though the use of Alien Skin Software's plug-ins. Breezy conditions dictated a fast shutter speed (1/500) and the shade mandated a high ISO (1600). Some of the best apps are part of broader, more powerful productivity software, but all of the options below have the basic features you’ll need for alternative Apple Notes options. There are plenty of Apple Notes alternatives out there, with many users requiring online notes as well as native apps on different platforms (an iPhone and a Windows laptop, for example). Premium plan needed for high-quality media Quick-Comparison of the Best Alternatives to Apple Notes Some of the key considerations here are inputs (multimedia, text, and formatting), native platforms, and collaboration tools. For many people working on Mac or iOS devices, the in-built note-taking app is THE go-to, but what are some of the most popular Apple Notes alternatives?īelow is a quick overview of the features that some of these note-taking platforms offer before we take a deeper dive into the pros and cons of each. Note-taking is a key part of any productivity workflow, whether jotting down points in a meeting, collaborating on a new project idea with your team, or getting your thoughts organized. What Are the Best Alternative Options to Apple Notes? With its user-friendly interface and robust set of features, Apple Notes has become a popular choice for both personal and professional use. With Typora, I moved images to a specific folder on my Mac, and that has caused some problems, so I don’t really mind having to upload. Images can’t upload images to Simplenote: have to host somewhere else like Imgur, Tumblr, or Substack. Apple Notes also includes a search function, collaboration features, and the ability to sync across all devices using iCloud. Import can import a variety of formats: text (‘.txt’ and ‘.md’) and Simplenote (JSON). The application allows users to create and organize notes that can include text, images, sketches, audio recordings, and even checklists. that is available on all Apple devices running iOS, iPadOS, and macOS operating systems. Simplenote is now available for iOS, Android, Mac, and the web. Apple Notes is a note-taking application developed by Apple Inc. This will also make it possible for owners to configure additional hotkeys. Install the proper keyboard software and your system will be able to recognize the device and use all available features. This means your IDE will help you by suggesting available events. With ReactiveUI.Events all events are strongly typed. Consider the following example which uses UWP XAML behaviors: Third, if you'd like to modify the way how your view model reacts to an event, you need to write a new action and/or behavior. Second, you lose intellisense when typing the event name. Prefer ObservableEvents over XAML behaviorsĪlthough XAML behaviors is a nice technique which allows you to bind to any event exposed by a control, it has several drawbacks. See WhenActivated documentation for more info. If your view model outlives your view or vice versa, there is a potential for a memory leak, and WhenActivated helps you to avoid that. If you are reacting to events emitted by the view and referencing the view model in your observable sequence, remember to dispose your subscriptions. Remember to dispose of your subscriptions using the features provided by the Reactive Extensions. Combine multiple Observable.FromEventPatterntogether to get amazing composition. Don't use EventHandlers ever, use the generated Observable.FromEventPattern versions. has now replaced the ReactiveUI.Events.* packages. This package uses SourceGenerator to generate the observables for events within the platform. will always be a separate package that has no dependancy on the ReactiveUI package. You can use this events package standalone, without any reference to ReactiveUI. Install the package into your application. My son played on SP also and he traveled there three or four times and although there sabers, wolves and mammoths in another area close by, water separated this small section and he was able to travel there several times without any fur/pelt and collect crystals, pearls and even some oil. It was just as you enter the snow biome, just don't remember the exact location. I live near the peninsula we both went west, then turned north following the coastline. You want to still have the campfire and torches near the tiller, for extra warmth, but you should be able to handle the cold well enough to be able to get crystals and some pearls.ĭon't know the coordinates, my son went there first and I have traveled there once. You could consider that and I think it will keep you warm enough so you can be in the north snow biome and not freeze to death. I put a foundation on my raft some pillars and built half a "roof" to put a small cabin and a bed inside and a fireplace just over-top where the tiller is at although I haven't tried it yet. Not to say they aren't there, but you can stay close enough to shore that you can get out quick enough so you won't become a snack. There is also a small area nearby, don't remember exactly where, that along the shoreline you can get into the water and get pearls pretty much without having to worry about the megladons. Have plenty of cooked meat and berries (for water) in your inventory. You can dash onto the ice and collect some crystals, dash back unload into storage chests and warm up, dash back and get some more, hurry back to unload and warm up. That way you will stay warm enough to not freeze. My suggestion is that you build a cabin on your raft and have at the least a campfire and several torches near the tiller and one in the cabin. If you have a raft you can head north, following the coast line (my base is in the south, almost the middle of that area, near the peninsula) so I head west, then north.Īnyhow, head up north and not too far in the snow biome there is a section that has crystals and no dinos in that small area. I'm going to make a guess that you are playing on the ARK Island and not the Center map. So be careful! The safest bet is the volcano to the west (just south of the snow biome) since, in my experience, there's no animals there and TONS of crystal/obsidian/metal, but there's a lot of angry animals on the way up, so if you don't fly in, it could be a battle. I've died, losing crystals and animals because I thought I could outrun them. If you see them close to a node, just leave. Lastly, the two mountains in the northeast (top right) are very rich in crystal, but often have Gigas up there. I strongly reccomend using a flyer to fly up there (if you don't have an ankylo) since its fast and safe, but crystal is heavy, 1 pound per crystal, so be prepared for that. That being said, ankylos can't fit into caves Even with a metal pick I can get nothing but stone from a crystal node! Ankylos often get 6-12 crystal from a single node. Ankylos are very, very slow, but they're tough, have good knockback, and harvest crystals WAY better than your pick can. The best thing you can do is ride an anklyo to them. It's not pictured on that map, but from that point, just to the northeast (southeast of the mountain in what will soon be the redwood biome) there's another tiny hill with crystals on top, again, easy to get to with a raptor or two at worst. There's occasionally a raptor or two, and very rarely a carno, so it's usually very safe. Its a small hill, barely a mountain, that you can easily walk up. No problem! And for that you'll want my favorite crystal location, it's (if you look at the map) the little dot at the bottom middle of the southern isles. A last question: which of these areas have weaker creatures? I am not a very good fighter. Thank you very much for these good hints. All the games are themed by tv show and network so there's Macho TV (with a motorcycle driving game and loads of other games too), a station with extreme sports which contains sledding on ice on the back of a cow to do tricks and hit targets, and of course the rabbid singing and dancing games too. As you beat games you unlock more days, timeslots and minigames. There are 7 days worth of "tv programming" with each day having at least 7 timeslots and every timeslot contains 8 games. Instead of telling a story (rabbids I) or traveling the globe (rabbids II), the rabbids have taken over the tv. This game is a similar setup but the theme is different. Both games are set up as a set of minigames suitable for individual or party play. Also included are first-person shooting stages inspired by the film, Night of the Living Dead. Those without a Wii Balance Board won't have to miss out, as the accessory is optional. Players will sit on the board to race on a snow-capped mountain, stand on it to mimic exercise poses, go surfing in space, and more. New to this installment is support for the Wii Balance Board in addition to the system's standard motion-driven controls. Once again Wii owners will partake in themed activities that poke fun at television, movies, and other aspects of pop culture. Ubisoft's dim-witted, unhinged rabbits are back for more madcap mini-game merriment in Rayman Raving Rabbids: TV Party. New York wasnt unique to hosting faction fights, New Orleans would also see a large scale faction fight of its own, it started as a dispute over canal work between the Corkonians & United Irishmen and a boxing match in 1837 again in New Orleans descended into a large scale faction fight.Ī faction fight typically broke down into 3 parts, stick fighting, wrestling & stomping. In 1842 there was a reported large scale riot between Irish Catholics and Protestants. Again in June 8th 1825 another fight was reported, the next reported fight took place was 1835. 10 people were arrested, named as ringleaders. Hayes and a man named Homan fought each other, Homan narrowly avoided death. In New York on the 31st march 1825 the New York American Newspaper reported that a shillelagh frolic took place that morning in the neighborhood of the marble buildings, where several hundred sons of Erin assembled for the occasion, where Paddy L. One of the biggest of its kind went on in Ballyveigh Strand, County Kerry in 1834, it involved hundreds of fighters But not all of these fights were done with playful intent many were done to settle feuds and political or religious tensions, the winner of the fight was usually the winner of the dispute. Even though it caused death, the practice of faction fighting was considered good fun and in fact, people brought to justice for killing people in faction fights were often exonerated. Two or more groups assembled to fight using mostly rocks and sticks, very often resulting in the death of many participants. The Factions fought for pride, land, territory or sometimes, just for fun. In fact there is strong evidence of Faction Fighting and use of the Shillelagh not just in Ireland but in Liverpool, U.K, New Orleans & New York going as far back as 1825.Ī Faction Fight was usually based around families or “Clans” and took place on the fare days or on Sunday after mass. First recorded in Co.Tipperary it is said to have spread like wildfire throughout the country. The origins of the use of the stick is hard to determine as they weren’t properly recorded until the 17th & 18th centuries, though it is thought to be much older, there is strong evidence that the shillelagh was a weapon from an ancient form of Irish martial art, Bataireacht is a category of stick-fighting martial arts of Ireland which over the past few years has seen a revival after becoming an almost extinct practice.įaction Fighting was the name given to phenomenon that broke out in Ireland during the 17th century in which large groups of men fought pitched battles using Blackthorn sticks such as the Shillelagh. Traditionally, the shillelagh or blackthorn sticks with thorns left on the stick were smeared with whiskey butter and smoked over fire (in the fireplace) – thus giving them their dark, hard, glossy surface. It was made by taking either the branch of a tree or an entire juvenile tree including the root knob and cutting it up to approximately three foot in length with the root left in a ball on top, some fighters would carve an opening in it and fill it with molten lead to give it a bit more weight. The Shillelagh was traditionally made from blackthorn wood which was available easily and in large quantities, it was a tree species of high hardness and stiffness – it grew on the side of the road. The Shillelagh was used as a walking stick and or a weapon. The Shillelagh (pronounced shi – lay – la) is the name for a traditional Irish stick or stick of blackthorn wood, its usually sold to tourists and is a symbol of Irishness, it is on the logo of sports clubs, political office and other places around the world however, it has a long and somewhat sinister past. 1 in player efficiency rating if we had PER data from Gasol’s entire 2000-01 season, versus just a small subset of it. There’s an asterisk in this chart because Wembanyama would probably be no. Other Lottery Picks From International Leagues (Advanced Stats) Statistic led the NBA with a 9.6 percent block rate (and won the Defensive Player of the Year award because of it), and Manute Bol is the only qualifying player in NBA history to reach double digits in a season.Īmong other highly drafted European bigs, Wembanyama’s block rate is essentially double what Kristaps Porzingis had before he was drafted, and the gap is even wider when comparing Wembanyama to Jonas Valanciunas and Gasol. By virtue of his sheer height, Wembanyama is a reliable rebounder, and he has an absurd 10 percent block rate this season. Yet while his highlight reel consists of one-legged 3-pointers and Euro-step dunks, Wembanyama excels most-and will presumably be an impact player from his first day in the NBA-on the defensive end. Other Lottery Picks From International Leagues (Shooting Stats) Statistic Compared to this group, too, Wembanyama is a wonder. From RealGM and Basketball Reference, we have data for 25 previous lottery picks who were playing in an international league, ranging from Pau Gasol in 2001 to Ousmane Dieng in 2022. The only Division I player in the last 30 years to average 20-10-2 on offense with at least three blocks per game, incidentally, is Duncan (as a senior at Wake Forest).īut Wembanyama isn’t playing at the college level he’s spending his predraft season in Europe, so it makes more sense to compare his statistics to those of the top international prospects who came before him. (In blocks specifically, Wembanyama has nearly double the next-closest player’s total.) He’s averaging 21.8 points, 10.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 3.6 blocks per game. KOC and other draftniks have the scouting side covered-but here, we’ll cover the stats, because Wembanyama excels just as much through that lens.Īt the age of 19, Wembanyama leads LNB Pro A-France’s topflight basketball league-in points, rebounds, and blocks. So, as we approach the lottery and as Wembanyama wraps up his regular-season schedule in France and prepares for the playoffs with Metropolitans 92, it’s worth taking a moment to examine just what kind of standout the NBA will gain next season.
